Control Measures

 

1. Child in an Adult Environment


Exposure to inappropriate adult behaviour/language breaches rights to safe environment (SET 1.18).


- Supervision by licensed chaperone or parent.- Use of designated safe space.- No unsupervised access to venue outside set times.

 

2. Risk to Hearing


Hearing damage constitutes physical harm (SET 1.17).


- Professional ear protection worn.- Set duration capped at 60 minutes.- Soundcheck ensures safe volume at booth.

 

3. Exploitation (e.g. unpaid gigs)


Financial/benefit exploitation is a form of abuse (SET 1.22 & 24.5).


- Every performance approved by parent with terms agreed.- No commercial gain via Bens name/image without written consent.

 

4. Adultification


Expectations beyond developmental stage risk harm (SET 1.18).


- Materials and booking terms must state Ben is a child.- No inappropriate language, tasks, or presentation.

 

5. Physical Harm at Venue


Environmental risk to physical safety (SET 1.25).


- Booth secured and hazard-free.- No crowd interaction.- Pre-performance safety check by adult supervisor.

 

6. Online Exposure


Unauthorised or inappropriate online sharing can cause emotional harm (SET B3.25).


- No public media sharing without parent approval.- Event staff informed of media policy.- GDPR-compliant forms used.

 

7. Transport & Exit Safety


Unsafe transitions or post-event vulnerability (SET Early Help).


- Supervised drop-off and collection.- No unsupervised travel.- Exit plan agreed in advance with parents.

 

8. Sleep, School & Wellbeing 


Disruption to sleep, school attendance, or focus can impair development and learning (SET 1.17, Children Act 2004 S10).


- Gigs must not interfere with regular school attendance.- Events requiring late nights are limited and pre-approved by parents.- Adequate rest time before/after events ensured.- Performance timing avoids school nights unless exceptional with clear justification.
